How Safe is Mexico to Live In?

8 Jun

Suzanne Barbezat, About.com Guide, defends Mexico’s safe reputation and points out that potential visitors do not realize Mexico’s immense size and the sheer size of  distance between tourist locations and areas that see violence. Mexico is the 15th largest country in the world in terms of size.

The author has traveled more than 3000 miles within Mexico via car and air. Her list of cities she’s visited (touristy destinations and colonial towns) without any problem include: Guadalajara, Morelia, Guanajuato, San Miguel de Allende, Huatulco, San Cristobal de las Casas,Campeche, Merida, Cancun, Cozumel, and Playa del Carme . She resides in Oaxaca, Mexico.

Don’t be influenced by a quick glance at sensationalist news. Make sure you are educating yourself properly as well as reading articles from american expats and others who are actually living in Mexico and have been there for years without any problems.
