Beer 101 for Mexico Expats

20 Jun

Is there a better time to write about beer than in the summertime? Have you heard of a chelada or michelada? Now’s the time to try a taste of summer in Mexico via beer.

  • Chelada: beer mixed with lime juice, served over ice with a salted rim
  • Michelada: beer mixed with tomato juice (or Clamato), lime juice, and a variety of sauces, spices, and peppers

There’s a variety of ways a michelada is served depending on the region you’re currently residing or visiting in Mexico.

Cancun expat Lisa Juliot introduces expats into the world of mexican beer found in Mexico and how to pronounce the beer types (helpful to minimize any embarrassing pronunciations, because there’s bound to be a few anyway :] ).
