Mexico to Treat 100% of Wastewater Generated at Beach Resorts

4 Oct

Adding to my previous post on Mexico’s efforts to place clean beaches as a top priority of Mexico’s national water agenda, is a little bit about Mexico’s agenda in treating its wastewater.

From WaterWorld – “Mexico will be treating 100% of the wastewater generated at its beach resorts by the end of the current administration in 2012, national water authority Conagua said in a release…Under Conagua’s Playas Limpias (clean beach) program, 90% of wastewater is currently being treated. Conagua has invested 5.6bn pesos (US$457mn) in wastewater treatment plants, 64 of which are located in tourist resorts.”

Some more environmental news for Mexico expats. 🙂
